Dina Thorslund is a champion once again, and this time she's undisputed champ after an emotional journey.
A little more than a year after vacating her WBC and WBO bantamweight titles because she was pregnant, the undefeated Thorslund fought aggressively from the start to snatch the WBC, WBO, WBA and IBF titles from Cherneka Johnson, winning every round in a unanimous decision in the main event of MVPW-5 on Saturday night in Orlando, Florida.
The co-main event of the all-women main card at Caribe Royale was also a title bout and a shutout decision victory for the challenger. Tamm Thibeault, a former amateur world champion and two-time Olympian from Canada, took the IBF and WBO middleweight belts away from Desley Robinson, becoming a champion in just her fifth pro fight.
Thorslund (25-0, nine KOs) vacated her titles in June 2025, and a month later she announced on social media that she had suffered a miscarriage. She returned to the ring in January and defeated Almudena Alvarez to capture the vacant WBC interim featherweight title. Then Thorslund, who is 32 years old and from Denmark, dropped back to bantamweight to fight for the undisputed championship.
The lead-up to Saturday's fight brought more emotional turmoil for Thorslund, whose training partner, Raven Chapman, underwent emergency brain surgery last month after she collapsed during a sparring session in Denmark.
"This has been such an emotional journey for me the last year," Thorslund said, fighting back tears.
Nodding toward the title belt slung over her left shoulder, she said, "I'm going to take this straight back to Raven and say thank you."
Thorslund was in control for the whole fight. Her aggressive combinations put Johnson on the defensive, especially early, and through three rounds, Thorslund had landed 37 punches to Johnson's 14. In the end, Thorslund's nonstop attack of power punches built a 103-62 edge. All three judges scored it 100-90.
Johnson (19-3, eight KOs), who became undisputed champion by knocking out Shurretta Metcalf in July 2025, was unable to utilize her power against Thorslund. Practically every time she connected, Thorslund would respond by landing three or four shots in return.
The co-main event was just as one-sided. The 6-foot Thibeault (5-0, three KOs) controlled the fight distance from start to finish. That finish appeared close to happening in the first round, when she connected with a straight left that sent Robinson into the ropes. Thibeault then unleashed a flurry of punches that threatened to end the fight, but Robinson (12-4, four KOs) persevered.
In the rounds that followed, Thibeault continued to snap Robinson's head back with lefts, while Robinson's offense mostly fell short of its target. In the fifth, a Thibeault left hand bloodied the face of Robinson. Through five rounds, Thibeault had landed 50 power shots to Robinson's 12, and it didn't get better for the reigning champ after that.
Thibeault did face adversity in Round 6 when a clash of heads gave her a bloody nose. But she didn't lose a beat, winning all 10 rounds on each judge's scorecard.
Asked what it felt like to have the IBF belt slung over one shoulder and the WBO strap over the other, the 29-year-old from Shawinigan, Quebec, smiled and said, "A little heavy, but I like it. I want more."
