Divisional rankings: David Benavidez still chasing Canelo Alvarez at 168; Jermall Charlo returns to top 10

ESPN's divisional boxing rankings highlight the best in the sport in every weight class. They will change often, based on recent results and performances. Rankings are based on what a fighter has accomplished in the weight division in which he is ranked. Fighters who have announced they are moving to a different weight division will be ranked in that new weight class, if warranted, only once they fight in that weight class. Fighters who currently own titles in two divisions can be ranked in both weight classes.

Fighters who haven't competed in the past 12 months -- and don't have a fight scheduled -- will be dropped from the rankings until they fight again. Any fighter who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be removed. That boxer will be eligible to re-enter the rankings after his next bout.

On Saturday, David Benavidez defended his WBC interim super middleweight title with an impressive sixth-round TKO victory over two-division champion Demetrius Andrade at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) dominated the fight after the third round and dropped Andrade in Round 4. Andrade (32-1, 19 KOs), won the first three rounds in two of the judges' scorecards and the first two on the other, but wasn't able to keep Benavidez away the rest of the fight. Benavidez stays at No. 2 in the division behind undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez. Andrade falls one spot to No. 9.

After the victory, Benavidez, who has won seven of his last 10 fights by stoppage, called for a fight against Alvarez.

"I just have to keep beating who they put in front of me," Benavidez said during his post-fight interview. "I'm the best. I'm going to be the best. I'm going to be a legend by the time I'm done, so whoever you keep putting in front of me, I'll keep knocking them down.

"Let's give the people what they want to see. They want to see Benavidez versus Canelo."

In the co-main event, Jermall Charlo returned to the ring for the first time in more than two years to defeat Jose Benavidez Jr. by unanimous decision in a non-title 163-pound catchweight bout (Charlo was 3.4 pounds above the contracted weight limit of 163). The fight officially was contested at middleweight.

Charlo (33-2, 22 KOs), the WBC middleweight champion won by scorecards of 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92. He re-enters the middleweight rankings at No. 4.

Also on the card, Subriel Matias defended his IBF junior welterweight title with a dominant sixth-round TKO victory over Shohjahon Ergashev. Matias (20-1, 20 KOs), has won his last five fights by stoppage. He moves up one spot to No. 5 at 140 pounds.

At junior middleweight, Hector Luis Garcia dropped a split decision to Lamont Roach (24-1-1, 9 KOs), who enters the rankings at No. 7. Garcia (16-2, 10 KOs) loses three spots, going from No. 5 to No. 8.
