Dandenong's best in each of his past two NAB League matches, overager Bailey Schmidt has provided a commanding influence through the ruck.
Schmidt contributed 15 disposals, nine contested possessions, 25 hitouts, seven inside 50s and two score assists for Dandenong in their 13-point loss to premiership fancy Sandringham.
The strong-bodied ruckman regularly won first possession out of the ruck, was too strong in ruck contests when he could create body contact between himself and his opponent and tapped the ball to the advantage of teammates. Schmidt's ground ball-winning, strength to keep his feet when tackled and the marks he took both inside 50m and intercepting behind the play added further value.
With a similar game to Tom Bellchambers, Schmidt -- who has played four VFL matches for Frankston -- is a potential late draft smokey who, with improved endurance and mobility, is a developable ruckman.
