Coco Gauff, the 2023 US Open champion, is once again through to the round of 16 at the tournament.
Gauff defeated Cristina Bucsa 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday and is yet to drop a set at this year's tournament. It's the fifth straight year Gauff has advanced to the fourth round at Flushing Meadows.
"Honestly, I feel like I'm definitely used to getting to Week 2s now because I feel like I woke up today and I was like, 'Oh, we're already in Round 3,'" Gauff said. "So, I think that's a good sign, just feeling like I'm not feeling tired."
Despite the straight-sets victory, Gauff struggled with her first serve against Bucsa, landing just 49% (27 of 55), though she vowed to "get better at that" before her next match.
Gauff will face the winner of Saturday's matchup of rising young players -- No. 17 Alexandra Eala from the Philippines and 14th-seeded American Iva Jovic.
Gauff has lost in the fourth round of the US Open in each of the past two years -- falling to Naomi Osaka last year in the round of 16, and Emma Navarro in three sets in 2024.
After the win, Gauff acknowledged the pressure that comes with being an American contender at the US Open.
"Obviously, there is a lot of pressure here as an American, trying to do well," Gauff said after the match.
"Everyone wants to win this tournament, but I think for Americans it's even more special."
