A factfile of Sale Sharks' Jason Robinson who was brought out of international retirement today by new England coach Brian Ashton.

1974: Born in Leeds, July 30.

1991: Joins Wigan from Leeds amateur club Hunslet Parkside for a £15,000 signing-on fee on his 17th birthday.

1992: Makes his Wigan debut against Hull on August 29, scoring the first of 171 tries for the club.

1993: Named young player of the year and on May 1 wins his first Challenge Cup medal in Wigan's 20-14 victory over Widnes at Wembley. On October 16 makes atwo-try debut for Great Britain in a 17-0 win over New Zealand at Wembley.

1995: A member of Wigan's victorious Challenge Cup team at Wembley. At the height of the Super League war, signs contract with the Australian Rugby Leagueto move Down Under in 1997.

1996: Plays in the cross-code challenges against Bath before joining the union outfit, along with Henry Paul, for a short-term contract in the rugby league off-season.

1997: Released from his contract with the ARL after a change of heart and re-signs with Wigan.

1998: In the Wigan team beaten by Sheffield Eagles at Wembley in one of the biggest sporting upsets of the century but gains consolation at the end of the season with victory in the inaugural Super League Grand Final.

November - Equals the Great Britain record for scoring tries in six successive Tests and becomes the first player to score a try in each match of a three-Test series against both Australia and New Zealand.

1999: Wins the last of his 12 Great Britain caps in the Tri-Nations Series in Auckland.

2000: Plays his 281st and final match for Wigan on October 14 in the Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford, where the Warriors go down to St Helens.

Makes his debut for Sale after switching codes on a permanent basis, starring in a cup game against Coventry.

2001: Breaks into England side with three replacement appearances in the Six Nations Championship and then makes the British & Irish Lions team for the tour of Australia. Scores a stunning try in a crushing win over the Wallabies in Brisbane and plays in all three Tests but the Lions lose the series 2-1.

2003: Helps England to win their first Six Nations Grand Slam, playing in all five matches, and then scores four tries during their successful World Cupcampaign.

December - Receives an MBE in the New Year's Honours List for his efforts during the World Cup.

2004: February - Scores a hat-trick of tries in England's 50-9 Six Nations victory over Italy in Rome.

August - Appointed captain of Sale Sharks.

November - Captains England against Canada at Twickenham.

2005: England lose first three matches of the Six Nations Championship - their worst record since 1987 - and Robinson is ruled out of the remainder of thetournament with a torn ligament in his right thumb.

July - Plays in first two Tests of Lions tour of New Zealand but is dropped for the third.

September - Announces he is quitting international rugby.

2006: May - Becomes the first player to win a Grand Final in both rugby codes after Sale win Guinness Premiership Final 45-20 against Leicester at Twickenham.

October - Announces he is making himself available for England selection.

2007: January 2 - New England boss Brian Ashton summons Robinson from international retirement for the RBS 6 Nations Champions
