Former Ireland international full-back Simon Mason hit a post with a late penalty attempt as the French champions and Heineken Cup semi-finalists Stade Français drew 18-18 at home to Bourgoin.
It was a major slip-up for Stade Français at the top of Poule 1 in the French Championship, although they were missing eight internationals, six of them rested plus the injured Diego Dominguez and Fabrice Landreau.
Bourgoin led 13-12 at half-time, after a 34th minute try by Pierre Raschi, converted by Benjamin Boyet.
Mason had earlier kicked four goals from five penalty shots at the posts, while Boyet landed two penalties, including one from 45 metres out.
Two more Mason penalties put Stade in front, but a try by Gérald Orsoni converted by Boyet tied the scores after 68 minutes.
Mason's place kick to win the match came back off a post, and although Stade regained possession when Bourgoin knocked the ball on, the Ulsterman's dropped goal attempt from Christophe Laussucq's pass went wide to the right.
