Wasps finished their Anglo-Welsh Cup campaign in style with an eight-try 50-28 victory over last year's winners Leicester.

However, neither side progressed to the semi-finals as both finished with 11 points after two wins and two defeats in their pool fixtures.

Rob Miller and Josh Bassett scored two tries for Wasps, with Marcus Garratt, Jacob Umaga, Craig Hampson, and Marcus Watson getting one apiece and Umaga converting five.

Harry Simmons scored two tries for Leicester, Luke Hamilton and Jonah Holmes the others with George Worth adding four conversions.

Leicester began strongly and looked to have taken a fifth-minute lead but the TMO ruled that scrum-half Simmons had been held up over the line.

However the Tigers were not to be denied for long as four minutes later, Hamilton forced his way over from close range.

Wasps soon responded with their opening try when Watson evaded Worth's tackle after the visitors' defence had been softened up by forward drives.

Watson was again in the thick of the action when he then handed off Charlie Thacker to run 50 metres out of defence before Wasps recycled possession for Miller to score.

Umaga's conversion gave his side a 12-7 lead at the end of the first quarter before they went further ahead when Miller side-stepped Cameron Jordan and Tom Brady to score his second.

The surges of Tommy Taylor and Jack Willis were causing havoc in the visitors' defence and it came as no surprise when Wasps scored their bonus-point try through Garratt.

Leicester rallied to score two tries in quick succession with the lively Simmons crossing for both as Wasps lost Garratt to the sin-bin after the lock had tip-tackled Matt Smith.

After the restart, Bassett returned from injury to replace Watson before Garratt returned in time to see James Seabrook send Hampson over for Wasps' fifth.

Wasps' best forwards, Taylor and Willis, were both replaced before Umaga threaded his way through the defence to seal victory for the hosts.

A clever kick from replacement Will Yarnell created Leicester's bonus-point try for Holmes before Wasps lost injured Guy Borrowdale leaving the hosts to play the final 12 minutes with 14 men but it mattered little as Bassett scored their seventh.

Each side picked up a yellow card in the dying moments, Seabrook for Wasps and Yarnell for Leicester, before the hosts had the final say with a second try for Bassett.
