Joe Cokanasiga scored a hat trick as London Irish roared to their first Anglo-Welsh Cup win in three attempts this season and left Wasps' chances of qualifying for the semifinals hanging by a thread after the 66-7 rout.

Wing Alex Lewington, scrum-half Scott Steele, wing Cokanasiga, prop Ollie Hoskins and fullback James Marshall all scored first-half tries as Irish grabbed a bonus point, with Wasps replying through a try from full-back Nick Foster, converted by fly-half Jacob Umaga.

And Irish put it out of sight in the second period as replacements Saia Fainga'a and Piet van Zyl crossed for further tries. Marshall converted five times, and replacement Tommy Bell got three.

Cokanasiga got two more tries, with Aseli Tikoirotuma adding another in the final 10 minutes.

The Exiles looked far hungrier from the start.

Lewington caught Wasps napping after two minutes to storm over on the left, and soon an attacking line-out started a move five metres out that saw Steele dive over near the posts, making Marshall's conversion simple.

Wasps needed to wake up and reduced the arrears when Foster scored out wide, Umaga converting.

Yet Irish soon restored their 12-point lead when Cokanasiga roared in at the corner.

And the Exiles gathered their bonus point in the 34th minute when fly-half Theo Brophy-Clews sent a pass to Hoskins for the prop to bundle over from two metres, an easy conversion for Marshall.

Irish were not finished for the half either as they put more pressure on Wasps for Marshall to finish off in the left corner, converting his own try, and giving the Exiles a 33-7 interval lead.

Wasps resisted somewhat after the break but it was not enough to affect the result as Irish rammed home their advantage with tries from Fainga'a and van Zyl, both of which Marshall converted.

And another Cokanasiga unconverted touchdown took Irish over the half-century mark, before the wing got a hat trick try at the end, his touchdown's sandwiched between one for Tikoirotuma.
