          Bengals release offensive lineman Cody Ford after three seasons

          CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bengals released offensive lineman Cody Ford on Monday, the team announced.

          Bengals coach Zac Taylor said the team parted ways with Ford on Monday in order to give him a head start on landing with another team. Teams will need to cut their roster down to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET on Sunday.

          Ford, 29, was with the Bengals for the past three seasons and made 50 appearances, including 10 starts.

          He started training camp as a potential swing tackle option behind starters Orlando Brown Jr. and Amarius Mims.

          However, Javon Foster and Jalen Rivers have taken the reps with the second-string offense recently, including in last Saturday's preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

          Taylor praised the way Ford played different positions on the offensive line, sometimes on short notice and with limited practice reps.

          "We liked him in the draft process and then we acquired him years later and gave us three good years of football." Taylor said. "Now I wish him the best on the next part of his journey."

          Taylor said the Bengals are still evaluating all options behind Brown and Mims. He also indicated he was not yet opposed to bringing in a player to fill that role.
