This week's set of fixtures in the Champions League mirror those from a fortnight ago, which in theory should help add a little further insight to our selections this time around. For some it's a chance for revenge while for others, it's an opportunity to complete a double and forge ahead in their respective groups.
Could Liverpool lose 5-0?
Any Liverpool fan who watched the first half of their 3-0 defeat at home by Real Madrid will be dreading Wednesday's clash between the two at the Bernabeu. The home fans are unlikely to allow Madrid to ease off in the second half as they did at Anfield and with Gareth Bale set to return from injury, the attacking threat is even greater than it was two weeks ago.
It would be a surprise if Liverpool (whose attack has been so affected by Daniel Sturridge's absence) score themselves so take Bet365's offer of 11/8 that Madrid win to nil, while as horrible as it is for Liverpool fans to imagine, a small interest on the 18/1 for it to end 5-0 might be worth having as well.
Sporting to turn the tables
Though Sporting Lisbon lost 4-3 at Schalke last time out, the Portuguese showed a lot of character playing with 10 men for almost an hour and almost snatching a point. They led 1-0 when the red card came and even when they went down 3-1 they hit back to 3-3 only to fall to a late, late penalty. On the evidence of the first match, they should be capable of turning the tables and though they were well beaten in the league at Guimaraes at the weekend, Islam Slimani returned from injury as a substitute and his presence would be a boost.
Schalke have a number of injury concerns to major players and at home, Sporting can turn the tables and win this at 19/20 with Bet365.
Malmo to push Atletico
Atletico Madrid put five goals past Malmo when the two sides met in Spain a fortnight ago but Malmo will be a different proposition at home, where they have already beaten Olympiakos in this year's competition. Don't expect them to go hell for leather, though. A point would be a good result for them and anyway, they average two goals per game in the league.
But do expect them to make life much more difficult for Atletico, who have already lost in Greece. I'm not quite brave enough to suggest taking Bet365's 11/1 on a home win but the 39/40 on them with a 1.5 goal head start looks decent. It also would not surprise me if goals are at a premium so take the evens there's no more than two.
Can Ajax upset Barcelona?
In search of a big price that could happen, let's have a real punt and suggest that Ajax can repeat their win over Barcelona from last season.
After a great start to the campaign, the Catalans have stuttered slightly of late and if Ajax have a chance, this could be it. Bet365 make them 8/1 to win and although Luis Suarez will be out to impress against his former that's worth a small dabble.
