Bernie Ecclestone is against introducing extra cockpit protection next year, either via the Halo device or Red Bull's new Aeroscreen proposal.

The FIA is determined to increase driver safety by introducing some form of additional head protection next year. Mercedes' Halo concept was mocked up by Ferrari and ran in testing, while Red Bull's Aeroscreen debuted at the Russian Grand Prix in FP1.

"I don't like any of it," Bernie Ecclestone said when asked for his opinion on the two devices.

Both concepts have been tested by the FIA by firing tyres at stationary structures, but Ecclestone questioned the methods the governing body is using to come to its decision.

"To try to simulate something where you've got a stationary object and you are trying to fire something at it, well in the race when a wheel comes off normally both cars will be moving," Ecclestone said. "So how can you simulate it by having a car stationary? How would you ever know what is going to happen with a wheel anyway? If you he hits the thing it would probably bounce off anyway. So I don't know."
