IPL 2026 - CSK vs LSG - Analysing Urvil Patel's 'jaw-dropping' innings (1:55)

Deep Dasgupta and Ambati Rayudu on the CSK batter's stunning 23-ball 65 (1:55)

13 - Balls required for Urvil Patel's 50, the joint fastest in the IPL, equalling Yashasvi Jaiswal's 13-ball 50 for Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders three years ago. Across all T20s (internationals, domestic and national franchise leagues), there have only been seven faster half-centuries.

14 - Consecutive defeats for CSK when chasing targets of more than 180, before the win against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. Their last win in a chase of such a target was in 2018, against RCB, when they chased down 206. However, during this period there was another instance - the 2023 final versus GT - when they conceded 214, and then successfully chased a revised target of 171 in 15 overs.

188 - Powerplay runs scored in the match between CSK and LSG, a record for any IPL game in Chennai. The previous highest was only 159, in a game between the same teams in 2023. Among all IPL games this is the third highest: the record is 213, in a DC-SRH game in 2014, while the PBKS-SRH match earlier this season fetched 198.

91 - LSG's powerplay score, their highest in the IPL. Their previous highest was achieved less than a week ago, when they scored 90 against MI. However, they ended up losing that game as well. CSK's powerplay score of 97 was their second highest in the IPL, next only to the 100 they scored against Kings XI Punjab in 2014.

15.66 - The combined powerplay run rate for LSG and CSK in their match today - the teams together struck 17 sixes in 72 balls. After the powerplays, the run rate dropped to 8.15, and the frequency of sixes reduced to almost one-fourth of the powerplay value.

75.9 - Percentage of team runs Josh Inglis scored for LSG at the time of his dismissal (85 out of 112). This is the highest percentage of team runs at the point of dismissal for a team score of 100 or more, since Suresh Raina's 87 out of 100 for CSK against Kings XI Punjab in 2014.

13-14 - Win-loss record for teams chasing targets of 200 or more in IPL 2026. It's easily the best in any season: last year, teams only managed a 9-24 record when chasing such targets, while the record was 6-22 in 2024 and 8-17 in 2023.
