Dean Foxcroft, Player of the match: I've played a couple of games here last year with obviously the A team and it helped quite a bit for us in terms of preparation and stuff. But yeah, I'm proud of the boys, great team performance today. Think it was just outstanding day for us. We thought 240 is pretty chasuble, but we knew, like, obviously we've got to bowl well and then obviously they've got a quality batting line-up. So, for us it was just making sure we're sticking to our guns and make sure we're putting a good performance with the ball, but also with the field. It's not an easy place to come here and win games. No, it was obviously extremely hot. We're not used to it. It's obviously winter in New Zealand now. So, yeah, we just want to take the challenges on, whatever it's giving to us and yeah, hopefully come out on top. And yeah, today was our day.

Melody Hasan Miraz: I think we bowled really well, 270 is not difficult to chase but our bowlers did great. If we took those two catches, we could have restricted them under 200 but we had a lot of positives. It's a great opportunity for Shoriful (last moment Mustafizur got injured), he bowled really well coming back after a long time. We have to finish well otherwise we cannot win. If we make big partnerships, definitely we will win.

Tom Latham, New Zealand Captain: I think we were pretty happy at the halfway mark. It wasn't perfect by any means, but the guys found a way to get to a really competitive total. We were hoping that the wicket was going to deteriorate and get harder, and I certainly thought, definitely did that towards the back end of the innings tonight. So yeah, full credit to the guys. Yeah, they played fantastically well. You know, for us, as a batting unit, we talk about partnerships and contributions..and it's not necessarily the guys that have the big partnerships, those small contributions once the wicket fell, and that was really important today, even towards the backend, with a few of the bowlers. So, you know, credit to the way Dean anchored that innings towards the back end and did well to obviously get us to a really competitive total. Yeah, I think for us, it's always about improving and putting a good performance on and adapting to conditions and things like that. So, you know, hopefully results take care of itself if we're doing the things that we want to do from a team point of view, and look, we obviously fell on the right side tonight. We did a lot of good things. Hopefully we'll also be better off for the experience of playing on a surface like that, and, you know, potentially it might be the same in a couple of days' time, but it might be different. So we pride ourselves on adapting, and, as I said, I thought we did that really well today.

A great advert for ODI cricket! There was hardly a dull moment and both teams fought tooth and nail for ascendancy but it was New Zealand who emerged on top in this series opener. There was always a feeling of impending doom in this attempt to chase as New Zealand kept coming back and exerting pressure with their tight bowling; the quicks bowled their hearts out in hot and humid conditions, consistently finding breakthroughs and derailing the chase. New Zealand fought hard to get to 247 after a middle-order hiccup but they had enough on the board on this brilliant pitch for limited-overs cricket. Bangladesh's bowlers did their job but the batters couldn't pace the chase well. Perhaps they left a few too many runs for the last 10 overs and the quick loss of wickets made the equation a tough ask. Blair Tickner was on fire tonight, returning 4-40 while Nathan Smith started the rot earlier and laid the foundation for the collapse, picking up three crucial scalps. It was a well-knit bowling performance, perfectly backed by the fielders
