Afridi looks on wistfully. It is a case of what might have been for Pakistan. They really lost the plot after the Hafeez-Younis stand set them up for a 260-plus score. It's been South Africa all the way, from the moment Hafeez cut Botha uppishly to Langeveldt. Tsotsobe, AB de Villiers and Kallis then sealed it in ruthless fashion.
"The old man just got some cramps out there," says AB de Villiers about Kallis. I don't think Kallis will take too kindly to being referred to as old man! It takes great stamina and reserves to be able to bat through a period of cramps and Kallis actually managed that today. That pull shot actually triggered a second bout, which was too much to handle.
The commentary feedback, at the moment, is a heady mix of dispirited Pakistan fanspeak, and dispirited Kallis fanspeak (vis a vis the Sobers v Kallis argument). Both parties, keep the faith, I say!
Presentation time. Ramiz Raja does the honours.
Tsotsobe is Man of the Match: "I must say I have been working very hard to get where I am now. I will look to step it up right now." [The height difference between Tsotsobe and Ramiz is disconcerting!] "I try to keep hitting the good lengths and make the batsmen hit the wrong shots. Happy with the slower deliveries too."
Afridi: "Very happy to see Younis back in the team, Hafeez also performed well, but after that we did not do well. Hopefully we will bounce back in the coming games. I am frustrated, yup, about the batting. Tough times, but we will try to do extra practice.. Bowling and fielding are perfect, we need to bat with better plans and last 50 overs."
Botha (instead of Smith, away injured): "Still awaiting Xray results for Smith. Kallis is a quality player and carried on even when he was tired. We were happy restricting them to 203, Lonwabo did a good job. Two down, two retired, but we managed to get there. You got to use your variations on a good wicket like this, and the guys did that really well."
That winds up our coverage for the game. Osman Samiuddin's updated bulletin will be here soon. Before going away, its a good time to join the fun we have in store in twitter. Follow our feed at @ESPNcricinfo - 140 characters off all the #cricket you need!
On behalf of our team, this is Nitin Sundar signing off. Cheers!
