Heather Watson has qualified for the Italian Open following a three-set victory over Ana Konjuh.

The British No.2 won 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in Rome to secure her place in the main draw.

Third qualifying seed Watson twice lost her serve in the opening three games of the final set but held her nerve to recover and beat the Croatian.

British No.2 Aljaz Bedene made it through to the men's draw, but Naomi Broady is out after she became the second British player in two days to lose to American Christina McHale.

Slovenia-born Bedene comfortably beat 6 feet, 8 inches Frenchman Kenny de Schepper in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Broady won the second set of her match, but world No.59 McHale, who knocked out Laura Robson in the previous qualifying round on Saturday, claimed a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory.
