Watson saw post-Masters slide again

Bubba Watson became the seventh player in history to win his first two major championships at the Masters, capturing his second green jacket in April when he shot a final-round 69 at Augusta National to pull away from Jordan Spieth in the final round.

Watson put on an impressive driving display, launching a tee shot over the corner of the dogleg at the par-5 13th during the final round and cruising to a popular victory that gave him a second Masters after winning his first in a sudden-death playoff in 2012.

But, as he did following his first Masters win, Watson, 36, had difficulty dealing with major championship success. Although he contended at the Memorial a little more than a month later, Watson missed the cut at both the U.S. Open and Open Championship, then saw his PGA Championship marred by attitude issues for which he later apologized.

Watson capped off 2014 in style by holing a bunker shot for eagle at the WGC-HSBC Champions on the final hole, then winning the tournament with a birdie putt on the first hole of sudden death, giving him a nice jump on the 2014-15 season.
