Brazil and Morocco shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw during the first World Cup match containing two of the top 10 sides on the planet.
Ismael Saibari scored an incredible goal for Morocco after a lovely move, in which Brahim Díaz slipped the PSV forward in and he made it count.
But Brazil showed that class is permanent with an excellent goal from Vinícius Júnior.
It was a first half with chances galore, largely for Morocco, who dominated possession in the early stages of the match and eventually made the most of some abject Brazil defending after 21 minutes.
Diaz received the ball in space and was able to find Saibari, who split the Brazil centre back pairing of Gabriel and Marquinhos and managed to dink a sumptuous chip over Yacine Bounou in the Morocco net.
The 2022 World Cup semifinalists continued to push forward and create chances and came close once again to scoring through Achraf Hakimi.
Brazil were all at sea and it felt like Morocco were on the way to a routine victory.
But the four-time champions showed that class is permanent and found an equaliser through Vinicius's brilliant solo goal. It was a second half in which it appeared that the heat may have played its part, with the same levels of intensity not found and chances becoming few and far between.
In the end, both sides had to settle for a point in their opening game, with Scotland and Haiti to come for both of them in Group C.
