Head coach Mario Gomez hailed the unbeaten home record of his Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) side after they rallied from a goal down to hold Perak to a 1-1 draw in the Malaysia Cup on Wednesday night.
Perak had taken an early lead through Oybek Kilichev's debut strike in the third minute before Safiq Rahim leveled proceeding 12 minutes later. The result leaves the Southern Tigers bottom of Group C, with three points from four games and, remarkably, no victories.
But the Argentine preferred to look on the bright side of the result, which leaves them four points off the automatic berth, occupied by Perak and PDRM on seven points.
"I'm happy our home record is fantastic. Now we can focus on our other competitions such as the Malaysia Super League and AFC Cup," said Gomez on the club's Southern Tigers Facebook page.
"The energy was superb, and we had a lot of chances but we were unlucky."
JDT have lost only twice all season.
They fell to a 2-1 FA Cup first-leg semifinal defeat to Kedah in April, before a 3-0 defeat to Perak in the Malaysia Cup on July 30.
Gomez will have the chance to revive his side's fortunes in the only competition that has eluded them, when they host PDRM FA at Larkin Stadium on Saturday.
And JDT will continue the defence of their AFC Cup crown next month when they face Hong Kong's South China over two legs in the quarterfinals on Sep. 13 and 20.
