Daniel Ricciardo has downplayed the recent speculation linking him to a seat at Ferrari in 2016, saying he sees it as "a bit of a laugh".

The uncertainty over Kimi Raikkonen's future at Ferrari beyond the current season has fuelled the rumour mill in recent weeks, with Ricciardo's name being linked along with Valtteri Bottas and Nico Hulkenberg. Ricciardo recently admitted he was open to a move to Ferrari, though he is uncertain he can get out of his three-year deal at Red Bull.

However, Ricciardo says he has enjoyed having something different to talk to with the media and re-iterated his desire to stay at Red Bull, which he says is still "a top team too".

"I don't even know where the rumours started actually - it's really exploded," Ricciardo told the official F1 website. "Ferrari is probably the only top team potentially with a seat open, which is why I guess my name and a few others have been linked to that.

"It's a bit of a laugh. You know what, it's fun - we talk about these things now, so it creates some variety in our conversations! Obviously it is nice to be regarded by a top team like that - it's nice to know there is interest from other teams as well. But I am with a top team too."
