Joshna Chinappa moved into the final of the women's JSW Indian Squash Circuit Otters International 2016, after defeating Welsh rival Tesni Evans in four games in the semifinal.

Joshna, the lone remaining Indian contender, got past Evans 11-6, 15-13, 9-11, 11-8 in 73 minutes to book a berth in the final against top seed Annie Au of Hong Kong, who ousted No. 3 seed Delia Arnold of Malaysia 11-13, 8-11, 13-11, 3-11 in 50 minutes in the other semifinal.

Joshna clinched the first game quite easily before Evans played herself back into the game. At 7-7 came a long rally before Evans was up two game balls, but failed to convert.

Joshna kept finding something extra, first to draw level and then to win the game. Down 0-2, Evans battled her way back by playing steadily. At 8-7 she pressed harder and had two game balls before Joshna played a tight drop to make it 9-10.

A contentious no-let for Joshna helped the Welsh woman stay in the match. They were evenly matched all through the fourth game with the Indian finding a way to stay marginally ahead. A couple of 'lets' ensued before Evans failed to reach for one shot at match-ball and lost the game and the match.
