Very few names in the poker world can command the respect that "Greenstein" can. Barry Greenstein, one of the most influential players in the poker industry, won Event 26, a $1,500 razz tournament.
Razz, a game where players try to make the lowest five-card hand possible, is one of the most interesting poker variations, and it typically entices a professional-heavy field. Previous winners of the event include Billy Baxter, Doyle Brunson, Eskimo Clark, T.J. Cloutier, Ted Forrest, Linda Johnson, Berry Johnston, O'Neil Longson, Lakewood Louie, Tom McEvoy and Huck Seed. Greenstein's name just seems like it belonged on the list.
By defeating the 453-player field, Greenstein earned his third WSOP bracelet. This was his 34th career WSOP cash, third cash of the 2008 WSOP, and second final table in four days. He finished in third to Mike Matusow in the 2-7 lowball event on June 9 and also made the final table of the $50,000 HORSE event in 2007. With this victory for $157,643, he now has $1,720,170 in career WSOP winnings, putting him 50th on the WSOP all-time money list.
Other notable finishers include Roland Isra (13th), Jeffrey Lisandro (20th) and Ted Lawson (38th).
