Arkansas hits three homers, rolls past Duke in super regional opener


Arkansas hit three homers to defeat Duke 14-5 in a five-inning, run-rule victory Friday at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in the opening game of the Fayetteville Super Regional.

Dakota Kennedy went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for the Razorbacks. Tianna Bell added a grand slam and finished 2-for-3, and Karlie Davison contributed a three-run homer. Ella McDowell went 1-for-1 with three walks and four runs scored.

Aminah Vega went 2-for-3 with a solo shot, Kairi Rodriguez was 1-for-1 with a two-run homer and a walk, and Layla Lamar added a solo home run for Duke. Starting pitcher Larissa Jacquez allowed seven earned runs on nine hits in 2⅔ innings.

Vega gave the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with her home run. Arkansas answered in the bottom half when Kennedy delivered a two-run single. Duke reclaimed the lead 3-2 in the top of the second on Rodriguez's two-run blast to center field. The Razorbacks' offense then erupted in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs, highlighted by Bell's grand slam and a solo shot from Kennedy that made it 7-3. After Duke's Lamar homered in the third, Arkansas added three more runs in the bottom of the inning and ended the game in the fifth with a four-run frame, capped by Davison's three-run home run.
