Fisher tosses 2-hit shutout as Georgia advances


Addisen Fisher pitched a complete-game, two-hit shutout to lead the Georgia Bulldogs to a 5-0 victory over the Clemson Tigers in a postseason matchup Sunday at Jack Turner Stadium in Athens, Georgia, advancing to the NCAA super regionals.

Fisher was dominant, striking out three and walking two over seven scoreless innings. The Bulldogs' offense broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning when Marisa Miller launched a solo home run to left field. Miller finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Georgia extended its lead in the fifth, scoring two runs on a bases-loaded walk by Tyler Ellison and a sacrifice fly from Miller to make it 3-0.


The Bulldogs added two more runs in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Sarah Gordon and an RBI double from Gabi Novickas. Keirstin Roose and Jaydyn Goodwin each contributed two hits to Georgia's eight-hit attack, with Goodwin also stealing a base.

Clemson was eliminated after struggling to generate any offense against Fisher. The Tigers' only hits came from Jamison Brockenbrough, who went 1-for-3, and Corri Hicks, who finished 1-for-2. Clemson was unable to advance a runner past second base.

Starting pitcher Abby Dunning went four innings for the Tigers, allowing three earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four. Macey Cintron pitched two innings in relief, surrendering two earned runs on three hits.
