A second half that helped erase memories of a poor opening period, largely thanks to the fact that PSV came out to play. An early goal through a penalty set the tie up nicely and, though the quality wasn't great from either side, a keenly contested cup tie was played out. Newcastle shaded it and deserved the narrow victory
