Boone, Duke beat Wake Forest 41-21
DURHAM, N.C. -- Anthony Boone ran for one touchdown and threw for another, and Duke beat Wake Forest 41-21 on Saturday night.
Boone was 19 of 31 for 275 yards with a 7-yard touchdown run and a 52-yard scoring pass to Jamison Crowder.
Duke (9-3, 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) never trailed, took control with two touchdowns in 9 seconds in the first quarter, then used a late 6-minute drive capped by Thomas Sirk's 18-yard TD pass to David Reeves with 6:02 left.
Shaun Wilson ran 8 yards for a touchdown and offensive lineman Casey Blaser recovered a fumble in the end zone for another TD. The teams combined for 744 total yards.
Freshman John Wolford was 24 of 36 for 251 yards with a season-best three touchdowns -- covering 27 yards to Jared Crump, 17 to Cam Serigne and 40 to Brandon Terry for the Demon Deacons (3-9, 1-7).
