LORMAN, Miss. -- — Jeremiah Gambrell had 17 points in Alcorn State's 74-67 win over Mississippi Valley State on Thursday night.
Gambrell shot 5 for 12, including 5 for 10 from beyond the arc for the Braves (13-17, 12-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Stephen Byard shot 6 of 9 from the field to add 14 points. Dekedran Thorn shot 5 for 8, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc to finish with 13 points. It was the eighth win in a row for the Braves.
The Delta Devils (1-29, 1-16) were led in scoring by Danny Washington, who finished with 17 points, five assists and two steals. Rayquan Brown added 12 points and six rebounds for Mississippi Valley State. Donovan Sanders had nine points and two steals.
