Cross scores 16 points and grabs 13 rebounds to lead UMass past Richmond 69-59
RICHMOND, Va. -- — Matt Cross scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Massachusetts in a 69-59 win against Richmond on Wednesday night.
Keon Thompson added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Minutemen (16-8, 7-5 Atlantic 10 Conference). Jaylen Curry also had 13 points.
Jordan King finished with 11 points for the Spiders (17-7, 9-2). Richmond also got 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals from Dji Bailey. In addition, Isaiah Bigelow finished with 10 points.
UMass took the lead with 11:20 to go in the first half and did not give it up. The score was 37-24 at halftime, with Curry racking up 11 points. UMass used a 10-3 run in the second half to build a 15-point lead at 61-46 with 6:08 left.
