LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- — Jalen Leach had 22 points in Fairfield's 88-81 victory against Rider on Sunday.
Leach shot 7 of 11 from the field and 6 for 6 from the line for the Stags (2-6, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Peyton Smith scored 16 points while shooting 4 of 6 from the field and 8 for 10 from the line, and added 10 rebounds and five blocks. Jasper Floyd had 15 points and shot 3 of 5 from the field and 8 for 8 from the line.
Mervin James led the way for the Broncs (1-7, 0-2) with 27 points, six rebounds and two steals. Allen Powell added 17 points for Rider. In addition, TJ Weeks Jr. finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals. The loss was the Broncs' seventh straight.
