Cornell knocks off Columbia 91-79
ITHACA, N.Y. -- — Nazir Williams scored 24 points as Cornell beat Columbia 91-79 on Tuesday night in an Ivy League opener.
Williams was 8 of 12 shooting, including 2 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 6 for 6 from the line for the Big Red (11-3, 1-0). Sean Hansen scored 14 points and added six rebounds. Cooper Noard was 4 of 8 shooting (3 for 7 from 3-point range) to finish with 11 points.
The Lions (9-5, 0-1) were led by Avery Brown, who recorded 17 points, four assists and three steals. Columbia also got 11 points and five assists from Kenny Noland. Josh Odunowo also had 11 points.
Both teams play again on Monday. Cornell hosts Pennsylvania and Columbia travels to play Yale.
