NC A&T holds off upset-minded Delaware St. 54-51
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Kameron Langley and Femi Olujobi each scored 11 points and North Carolina A&T held off Delaware State 54-51 on Monday for its eighth win in nine games.
The Aggies (15-9, 8-1 Mid Eastern Athletic Conference) moved into a first-place tie with Savannah State in the MEAC despite shooting 36.7 percent from the field and having an 11-point lead in the second half trimmed to one with a minute left.
North Carolina A&T trailed 30-28 at halftime, but Langley had five points during an 11-0 run that put the Aggies ahead 43-32 with 13:30 remaining. The Hornets countered with seven straight points and later closed within 52-51 on Jonathan Walker's layup with 1:05 to go, then forced a turnover before missing three shots in the final seconds with a chance at the lead.
After Langley made two free throws to put the Aggies up three with two seconds left, Delaware State's Kavon Waller missed a 3-point try to attempt to force overtime.
Joseph Lewis finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Hornets (2-23, 0-10), while Walker also had 12 points.
