Canty, Vincent help UCSB beat UC Irvine 70-58

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Jalen Canty had 20 points, on 8-of-12 shooting, and 11 rebounds and Gabe Vincent finished with 21 points to help UC Santa Barbara beat UC Irvine 70-58 on Saturday night.

Max Heidigger scored 14 points and Leland King II added six with 14 rebounds for UCSB (14-5, 3-2 Big West).

UCI's Tommy Rutherford scored eight points during an 12-4 run that made it 47-all when he made back-to-back baskets with 6:48 to play. King answered with a jumper and Canty converted a 3-point play to spark a 15-2 run -- capped by another 3-point play by Canty -- that gave the Gauchos a 13-point lead with three minutes left. The Anteaters trailed by double figures the rest of the way.

Rutherford made 7 of 10 from the field and scored 17 points before fouling out with 3:22 to play. Eyassu Worku added 10 points for UC Irvine (8-14, 3-3).
