Butler scores 28 as Holy Cross defeats Lafayette 85-74
WORCESTER, Mass. -- Austin Butler scored a career-high 28 points with five 3-pointers, Jehyve Floyd scored 17 and Holy Cross broke open a close game with a 9-0 run in the second half to defeat Lafayette 85-75 on Saturday.
The Crusaders have won two in a row and three of their last four. Holy Cross shot 56 percent (33 of 59) from the field, with Floyd a perfect 8-of-8 shooting and Butler 11-of-15.
Alex Petrie scored 29 points for Lafayette, and his 3-pointer pulled the Leopards to 62-60 with 10 minutes left One minute later, Floyd dunked to start a 9-0 run and the Crusaders led 71-60 by the 5:32 mark on Jacob Grandison's basket.
Karl Charles scored 12 points with eight assists for Holy Cross (7-14, 4-6 Patriot League) and Caleb Green scored nine with eight assists.
Petrie made 10 of 16 field-goal attempts for Lafayette (5-16, 3-7), including 6 of 9 from 3-point range, and grabbed five boards. Matt Klinewski added 14 points.
