Marberry scores 39 as Lipscomb tops North Florida 82-75
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Rob Marberry poured in 27 of his career-high 39 points in the second half and Lipscomb turned back North Florida 82-75 on Saturday.
Marberry made 75 percent of his shots from the floor with career highs in baskets (18) and shot attempts (24) and added five rebounds for the Bisons (17-9, 7-4 Atlantic Sun Conference). Kenny Cooper added 11 points, six assists and three steals as Lipscomb ended a four-game skid against North Florida (11-17, 5-6) and beat the Ospreys for just the second time in the last 10 games.
Lipscomb won despite getting only nine points from Garrison Mathews, who leads the A-Sun and is 12th in the nation averaging 22.4 points per game. Mathews missed 7 of 8 from 3-point range and all seven of his shots inside the arc. The Bisons made just 4 of 20 from long range.
Trip Day hit five 3-pointers and scored 22 with four assists for the Ospreys, while Ivan Gandia-Rosa scored 14 with five assists and Noah Horchler added 11 points and 10 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the season.
North Florida, which came in second in the nation in made 3-pointers (293), knocked down 11 of 24 (46 percent). Lipscomb dominated the points-in-the-paint category 58-32.
