Towson rallies past UMBC for 10th-straight win 78-65
TOWSON, Md. -- Eddie Keith II gained his first double-double, Zane Martin scored 15 points and sparked a 9-1 run as Towson broke open a tight game to defeat crosstown rival, Maryland-Baltimore County 78-65 Saturday and earn its tenth-straight win.
Keith scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds as Towson controlled the glass 49-35. Keith also had three of Towson's nine blocked shots as UMBC was harried into 20-for-69 shooting (29 percent).
The Tigers (10-1) were 27-for-60 from the field (45 percent). Deshaun Morman added 11 points for Towson.
Jairus Lyles led the Retrievers (6-5) with 21 points and Arkel Lamar chipped in 10 more. UMBC took the lead 54-51 when K.J. Maura and Lamar nailed back-to-back 3s. But then came Towson's 9-1 run with Martin hitting a 3 and a jump shot, Mike Morsell and Justin Gorham adding baskets.
