Wright-Foreman scores 32, Hofstra beats Delaware 64-59
NEWARK, Del. -- Justin Wright-Foreman hit 6 of 8 from 3-point range and finished with 32 points, including 12 in the final eight-plus minutes, to help Hofstra beat Delaware 64-59 on Saturday night.
Ryan Allen converted a 3-point play to give Delaware (11-12, 4-6 Colonial Athletic Association) a seven-point lead with 8 1/2 minutes left. Wright-Foreman answered with a 3 and then made back-to-back layups to spark a 12-2 run that made it 58-55 with three minutes to go. The Blue Hens trimmed their deficit to 60-58 on a layup by Skye Johnson with 39 seconds remaining, but Wright-Foreman made a contested 3 late in the shot clock with 12 seconds left.
Eric Carter led Delaware with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Eli Pemberton added 12 points for Hofstra (13-9, 6-4). The Pride committed just four turnovers and scored 15 points off 11 Blue Hens miscues.
Delaware used a 14-0 run to take a 24-13 lead midway through the first half and didn't trail again until Pemberton's free throw with 5:15 to play gave Hofstra a 54-53 lead.
