Hernandez scores 23 in LIU Brooklyn's win over Stony Brook
NEW YORK -- Joel Hernandez had 23 points and Jashaun Agosto scored four of his 10 points in the closing seconds to help LIU Brooklyn beat Stony Brook 75-51 on Monday night.
Raiquan Clark scored 20 points and Julius Van Sauers added 16 on 6-of-7 shooting for LIU Brooklyn (4-6).
Bryan Sekunda hit a 3-pointer to cap a 10-2 run and give Stony Brook (3-6) a 68-67 lead with three minutes left. Clark's layup about a minute later gave LIU Brooklyn the lead for good and Agosto hit a 3 to make it 73-69 with 15 seconds remaining. Jaron Cornish's layup pulled the Seawolves within two points, but Agosto made 1 of 2 free throws and, after a Stony Brook turnover, Hernandez added one more free throw to cap the scoring.
Cornish led the Seawolves with 15 points. Junior Saintel had 13 points and Sekunda scored 12.
