BYU Cougars @ Pacific Tigers
Pacific hangs on to upset BYU 67-66
STOCKTON, Calif. -- Jahlil Tripp scored 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting and Pacific survived for a 67-66 win over BYU on Saturday night.
Tripp's jumper with 2:55 left gave the Tigers (7-10, 2-2 West Coast Conference) the lead for good at 62-61 and Pacific made 5 of 8 free throws from there to hold on.
Elijah Bryant hit a 3 to pull BYU within one with 15.3 seconds left and, after a pair of missed free throws by Tigers, the Cougars (13-4, 2-2) had a chance to go ahead on the final play. Jahshire Hardnett kept it himself for a drive to the basket but missed the layup.
Pacific's halftime lead of 36-29 was the largest of the second half. BYU scored the first four points of the period and neither team led by more than one possession for almost the entire rest of the half.
Miles Reynolds had 16 points and Kendall Small 10 for Pacific.
Bryant led BYU with 29 points and seven boards. Yoeli Childs added 13 points.
