Long's 29 rallies Mount St. Mary's past Fairleigh Dickinson
TEANECK, N.J. -- Elijah Long scored a career-high 29 points, including a go-ahead layup late, and Mount St. Mary's rallied to beat Fairleigh Dickinson 79-74 to stay in sole possession of first place in the Northeast Conference.
Mike Holloway's layup capped a 10-0 run and the Knights led 44-34 early in the second half. Long scored seven straight and the Mountaineers closed to 60-56 with 7:13 left, then to 65-63 on Greg Alexander's 3-pointer. The Mountaineers tied it at 69 and 71 before taking a 75-71 lead on a Long's layup and Junior Robinson's two free throws.
The Knights closed to 75-74 on Darian Anderson's free throw, but Robinson hit two from the line and Chris Wray iced it with a dunk at the buzzer.
Robinson scored 17 and Mawdo Sallah added 12 for the Mountaineers (15-14, 13-3).
Holloway scored 18 points with eight rebounds for the Knights (11-16, 9-7), who have lost three straight.
