Ayr pulled clear of the drop zone in Scottish League One with a 1-0 win against Forfar.Goalkeeper Rab Douglas came to the visitors' rescue early on as he parried Craig Murray's shot to safety.The winning goal arrived in the 35th minute when Jordan Preston collected a pass from David Robertson and found the bottom corner.Alan Forrest headed wide from the edge of the area just before the break and Adam Blakeman had Douglas scrambling to keep out a fierce drive as Ayr looked to make it two.Martyn Fotheringham hit the crossbar and Darren Dods went close twice but Forfar could not find an equaliser.
