Falkirk booked their place in the William Hill Scottish Cup quarter-finals with a 2-1 win over Brechin.The Championship club went ahead early on when David McCracken nodded home following Luke Leahy's 11th-minute corner.Falkirk continued to boss matters and could have doubled their lead when Taylor Morgan was set clear but his chipped effort went just wide.The League One visitors improved after the break and should have levelled but Bobby Barr blasted over at the far post with the goal at his mercy.They made up for that miss in the 55th minute, though, when Alan Trouten converted from the spot after a foul on Gerard McLauchlan.It looked like a replay was on the cards until David Smith won it for the Bairns with a close-range strike following a magnificent run from Rory Loy.
