Commentary
Lukic takes the resulting corner from the left and his inswinging cross almost catches Pickford out, but the Everton goalkeeper is able to punch the ball clear before being awarded a free-kick. Still, it's been a bright start to the half from Ipswich...
WHAT A SAVE FROM PICKFORD!! Ipswich almost make a perfect start to the second half as Clarke finds Enciso in the Everton box. The latter then takes a touch before firing towards the near post, only for Pickford to get down and palm the ball behind.
Neither side makes a change at half-time, and the second half is underway!
Everton recorded 1.19 xG in the first half, compared to Ipswich's 0.77. And despite the positive signs from the visitors, the Opta supercomputer is giving the Toffees an overwhelming 76.1% chance of victory at the break. The Ipswich win comes in at just 6.6%, while the draw currently sits at 17.3%.
The half-time whistle goes as Everton take a 1-0 lead into the break against Ipswich. The scoreline doesn't tell the full story of the first half, though, and Ipswich could easily have at least a goal of their own had they taken their chances. Still, the crucial moment of the half came on 11 minutes when Tarkowski's shot from range ricocheted off Barry and into the Ipswich net. The visitors responded well, though, and could easily have drawn level seven minutes later when Mykolenko's crucial block denied Enciso. Barry could then have doubled Everton's lead in the 33rd minute, but the forward failed to finish from Maitland-Niles' cross, before Davis somehow squandered a golden opportunity at the other end on 38 minutes. Everton will be happy with the score, but know they still have a lot of work to do if they're to maintain their unbeaten home record.
