KINGSTON, R.I. -- JaJuan Lawson threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns, and Rhode Island beat Albany (NY) 45-26 on Saturday for its first 2-0 start since 2005.
It's also Rhode Island's first 2-0 start in Colonial Athletic Association play since 2001.
Lawson completed 22 of 28 passes, including touchdowns to Marven Beauvis, Isaiah Coulter, Aaron Parker and Tyler Burke. Parker caught nine passes for 146 yards and Coulter grabbed nine for 109 yards. Zoe Bryant Jr. scored on a 1-yard run after Brandon Ginnett recovered and returned a fumble 30 yards.
