Little Rock Trojans vs Troy Trojans

Troy sweeps Little Rock, advances to first MCWS
Troy is headed to the Men's College World Series for the first time in program history after a 7-2 victory over Little Rock on Saturday at Riddle-Pace Field in Troy, Alabama, to sweep the NCAA super regional.
Troy jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, sealing the win with a game-ending double play.
Blake Cavill had a two-run single to center in the top of the ninth, providing the final margin. He finished 1-for-4. Drew Nelson and Josh Pyne each drove in runs, with Pyne going 2-for-4. Steven Meier also drove in a run, going 2-for-4, and Houston Markham added two hits and a stolen base.
That was more than enough support for Troy starting pitcher Tommy Egan, who pitched 7⅓ innings and allowed just two runs on five hits while striking out eight and walking two. Noah Thigpen recorded the final five outs, inducing two double plays, including the game ender.
For Little Rock, Jerdy Lopez provided most of the offense, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the eighth inning. Nico Baumbach also had a multihit game, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk. Angel Cano and Kade Smith each added a single.
Troy set the tone early, scoring in each of the first three innings. Nelson's double made it 2-0 in the first, a sacrifice fly from Aaron Piasecki extended the lead to 3-0 in the second, and Meier's RBI single pushed it to 4-0 in the third. Little Rock got on the board in the fourth on an RBI fielder's choice by Ty Rhoades to make it 4-1. Troy added an insurance run in the seventh on Pyne's RBI single before Cavill's two-run single in the ninth.
Up next: Troy advances to the MCWS and will face West Virginia. Little Rock's season has ended.
