Towns lifts Niagara to 78-66 win over Army
WEST POINT, N.Y. -- James Towns finished with 19 points, six rebounds and five assists to propel Niagara to a 78-66 victory over Army on Saturday.
Marvin Prochet pitched in with 15 points, nine boards, three blocked shots and two steals for the Purple Eagles (6-5). Dominic Robb added 13 with three blocks and reserve Greg King pulled down 11 rebounds. Robb came in to the game averaging 3.4 blocked shots per game, fourth in the nation.
Jordan Fox scored 12 on 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range and added six assists for the Black Knights (5-8), who were playing for the first time after a 10-day layoff for finals. Alex King had 12 points and Tommy Funk and Lonnie Grayson scored 10 each. Army lost for the first time in five home games.
Fox hit a 3-pointer with 33 seconds left in the first half to give Army a 29-27 lead at intermission. The Black Knights trailed 47-46 with 13:20 remaining in the game, but Prochet hit a 3-pointer, Robb scored on a layup and Towns added a rebound basket in a 7-0 run and the Purple Eagles never looked back.
Niagara leads the all-time series 9-7.
