Marberry scores career-high 29, Lipscomb wins 86-79 in OT
NEWARK, N.J. -- Rob Marberry tied his career high with 29 points and Lipscomb rallied from a 19-point second-half deficit to beat NJIT 86-79 in overtime Saturday.
A 20-6 run with 12 points from Matt Rose cut NJIT's lead to four with 13:57 left. The Bisons took their first lead with 7:21 left on consecutive baskets by Marberry, their first lead since scoring the opening bucket.
The game went into overtime tied at 75 after Lipscomb's Garrison Matthews missed a reverse layup on a backdoor cut. Mathews had a 3-point play to open overtime and sank four free throws.
Matthews added 19 for the Bisons (14-8, 4-3 Atlantic Sun), who won their third straight. Rose was 4 of 5 from the arc and scored 18 points.
Anthony Tarke scored 20 points, Abdul Lewis added 16 before fouling out early in the second half, and Zach Cooks had 14 for the Highlanders (10-12, 3-4).
