Cooks' late FTs help NJIT beat Fairleigh Dickinson 71-68
NEWARK, N.J. -- Zach Cooks made two free throws and blocked a shot in the final 21 seconds to help NJIT beat Fairleigh Dickinson 71-68 on Saturday.
Abdul Lewis and Anthony Tarke scored 17 points apiece to lead NJIT (6-6), which snapped a three-game losing skid. Diandre Wilson added 14 points and Cooks finished with 12.
Darian Anderson had 18 points for Fairleigh Dickinson (3-7). Darnell Edge added 14 points and Mike Holloway Jr. had 13.
Edge scored five points and Holloway added a dunk as part of a 7-0 surge to give the Knights a 65-61 lead with 3:44 left. Wilson made a 3-pointer, and Shawndale Jones made a layup and 3-pointer to give NJIT a 69-68 lead with 1:26 to play.
Fairleigh Dickinson missed two shots and committed a turnover before Cooks grabbed a defensive rebound and made two free throws, and blocked Jahlil Jenkins' 3-point attempt to seal it.
