Commentary
Delajod blows his whistle for the final time then, and it's a routine 4-0 victory for Manchester United over Sabah to get their Champions League campaign up and running. Cunha's first Champions League goal got the Red Devils off the mark and, after Mickels missed a sitter for Sabah, Fernandes coolly rolled in the second. Sesko rounded Pokatilov and rolled into an empty net to make it 3-0 before half-time as the game was taken away from the Champions League debutants. The second half was a significantly more low-key affair, though Martinez had the easiest of goals to stretch the lead after Pokatilov got in a muddle from Zirkzee's backheel, which came from Fernandes' quickly taken free-kick. United's superior xG of 3.67 to 0.89 gives you an indication of the gulf in class but, fair play to United, they did a very professional job. Bigger tests lie in store for Carrick's men, who travel to the Metropolitano to face Atletico Madrid for their next Champions League clash. Next up in the Premier League, though, is the derby with Manchester City this weekend. Thanks for joining us for this one folks, until next time!
FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 4-0 SABAH
WHAT A SAVE! Mickels does brilliantly on the left flank to cross for Mbina, who gets between the United centre-backs. He really should score, but it's tipped over by Lammens! Sabah probably won't get their consolation now.
There will be a minimum of three added minutes to play here at Old Trafford.
Into the final two minutes we go then, will there be any action to speak of in the final moments...anything at all, lads...please?
CLOSE! Nearly a consolation there for Sabah, as Mickels gets beyond Yoro. His left-foot effort flashes wide of the right-hand post. He's had the best two opportunities for his side this evening.
