Endurance Stories
Wynyard finds redemption's golden in Men's Endurance
There was plenty of redemption floating around the Men's Endurance. At the top of the list is Jason Wynyard. Wynyard owned the event for the first two years. After loaning it out for a year, the gold is back in its rightful place.

Engasser's golden Endurance
Clutching her gold medal from the Women's Endurance at the 2003 ESPN Great Outdoor Games Friday, Peg Engasser did a quick time zone calculation and her broad smile grew even wider.

Arden Cogar: Felled by a chip
In the world of lumberjacks, chips happen. Whether in a pile of sawdust or flying from an ax-hammered log, chips fly and land in all sorts of places. At least one of those has made a major mark on the timber competitions in the last year.

Surprise in Women's Endurance
Almost as significant as who will be in Friday's finals of the Women's Endurance is who won't be in the finals. Sheree Taylor, the two-time gold medallist from New Zealand, made a stunning exit.

Hughes: Bush league
Jason Wynyard, of New Zealand and two time champion of the Men’s Endurance event, had just lost, in the semi final round, to his brother-in-law, Dion Lane, also of New Zealand, in the most awaited match-up of the Men’s Endurance Event.

Matijevich: Bush sneaks in for Gold
My favorite Great Outdoor Games moment is the 2002 Men’s Endurance competition. In three out of the last four years, the same four competitors made the top four: Jason Wynyard, David Bolstad, Matt Bush and Dion Lane (Dion finished 6th in 2000).

McKinnis: Mel Lentz, hero
I have a confession: I'm a sports junkie. I have been all my life, keeping track of all the scores, the rules and, most of all, the players. Like most sport junkies I have heroes.
