STANFORD, Calif. -- Justine Henin of Belgium has withdrawn from next week's Acura Classic in San Diego after breaking a finger in a match on Tuesday. The No. 7-ranked player in the world, Henin suffered a small fracture of her left ring finger after falling during the second game of the third set of her match against Marissa Irvin at the Bank of the West Classic. The 2001 Wimbledon finalist continued to play but eventually lost, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. "I was really looking forward to playing the Acura Classic for the first time in my career," Henin said. "I'm really sorry I won't be there, but I plan to come next year." Henin, 20, has won five career titles, including the 2002 German Open. She is scheduled to play at Montreal on August 12 and New Haven, Conn., one week later in preparation for the U.S. Open, which begins Aug. 26. "I hope to recover as soon as possible and be able to return to the Sanex WTA Tour in Montreal," Henin said.
