North Queensland Cowboys will take on Cronulla Sharks this weekend without superstar lock forward Jason Taumalolo after he was ruled out with bone bruising on his knee.
The destructive Cowboys forward suffered the injury early in last week's clash with the Gold Coast Titans. He was on the field for less time than usual, but was still carting the ball up through the Titans defence into the second half, notching up a typically impressive 290 metres.
"He actually played that second stint with it and it just showed up a little bit of bone bruising after the game," Cowboys coach Paul Green said.
"It pulled up sore the next day so we got a scan as we normally do as a precaution. We'll just monitor that over the next little while.
"Sometimes bone bruising... you don't know how long they can take to actually get better, but fingers crossed it'll only be a week."
The Sharks fought back against the Tigers last week only to fall away in defence and lose their third-straight game of the season. They are desperate to get some points in the board and the job will be made easier with Taumalolo missing.
